The biggest event of our year!!!
We are having a whole weekend to celebrate the Legend that was Michael ‘Pud’ Ward.
A man that meant so much to the village of Acle, he meant so much to the social club as well. Every time there was music on Pud would be one of the first up giving the musicians some encouragement while encouraging others to come up and join him. He would always go and offer to help the musicians with their equipment just as they were bringing in the last pieces.
He would stand in his holding pen and listen to the music while also telling us that he was doing membership checks at the same time. With either a pint of Wherry, Jack Attack or a Monkey and 2 cubes in his hand. A man with many sayings that became the norm when there was music playing, “This ban is just getting warmed up”.
To celebrate Pud we are having a whole weekend of music starting on the Friday with Jon Weeks. On the Saturday we have the local and famous How’s The J Mann, the band that Pud was the manager of and promoted worldwide (If you asked pud this was). This may be the boys last gig in Acle so none more so fitting that a weekend to celebrate a great friend of theirs.
The Sunday we are celebrating with not 1 but 3 acts out on the terrace, 3 acts that Pud absolutely loved to hear play down the Social and even loved watching them in their early days busking in the streets of Norwich. We have Sons of Mark first, followed by Barny Holmes and then Felix Simpson.
This promises to be a fantastic weekend of music as we celebrate a Man and a legend Pud.
